FASHION WEEK TREND: NUDE MAKEUP

FASHION WEEK TREND: NUDE MAKEUPBy Lottie NewmanAt Milan, Paris, London and New York, many different clothing styles emerged on the catwalk for SS 2016. But when it came to makeup, one trend stood out in all four cities: natural makeup. Most fashion designers rely on the “topless look” because it doesn’t distract from the styling itself and only their latest creations are the focus of the audience. But the Nude Look was a perfect match for the throwback to the 70s that many designers riffed on, as well as the understated shades of pale pink and tan chosen by many designers for their collections. But appearing as if you’re not wearing any makeup at all is a high art that demands a little practice. Here, we explain how to copy the look step-by-step.FASHION WEEK TREND: NUDE MAKEUP

Step 1

A perfect Nude Look enchants with a flawless complexion. After applying your favourite moisturiser or primer, a foundation matching your skin tone should be applied over red or brown spots–try not to apply all over the face to avoid a ‘masked’ look. But if your skin is generally good, your face cream can simply be mixed with a liquid foundation or BB Cream and applied all over.We love: Vapour Beauty’s Stratus Skin Perfector. It reflects light, giving you a radiance, and fills in any open pores as well.FASHION WEEK TREND: NUDE MAKEUP

Step 2

Small flaws such as tiny spots, dark circles, or pigmentation marks should be covered with a concealer. Get one that’s one shade lighter than your foundation. Dot under the eye or over spots and blend in well with your fingertips or a sponge.
We love: Lavera’s liquid concealer. It comes in a range of shades and is easy to blend in. Leaves skin looking moist, too.

Step 3

The Nude Look doesn’t need any flamboyant makeup at all. Just curl your lashes with an eyelash curler, then add some mascara, ideally a warm dark brown like Dr Hauschka‘s. Those who don’t want to skip eye shadow should pick a subtle, matt brown shade and apply it lightly to the lid, making sure to blend well. A slightly darker shade can also be applied to the eyelid fold, as well as to the lower lash line. Again, blend well with a good vegan eye shadow brush, like these.
We love: Dr Hauschka’s neutral Eye Shadow Palette. They’re gorgeous shades of brown that match any complexion, and the weighty, mirrored compact is simply gorgeous.

Step 4

Natural freshness can be conjured by a hint of blush in a warm brown shade. Apply it to the highest point of the cheeks in order to shape the face without making it appear hollow-cheeked. In summer, highlight a warm skin tone by applying bronzer instead of blush.

Step 5

In order to get a “pure” Nude Beauty Look, the lips are accented with a bit of foundation, then a thin sheen of subtle lip gloss or a lipstick in a gentle shade such as brown rosé, can be applied. Any eye-catching nuances, glitter particles, or dark lip liners are a no-no.

Step 6

For the last step, apply a transparent powder around the T-zone to fix the look, and to take away any shine. A light dusting with a large, vegan Kabuki brush should be enough.
We love: Finishing powders by Hynt Beauty. Comes with a lovely, fluffy vegan brush, too.
