day long but there is one super important step that is often overlooked when it
comes to brows. And that’s creating the perfect eyebrows for your face shape.
Brows are not one size fits all.
They come in all shapes, sizes, thicknesses, and colors. But unless they suit
your face shape, even the best techniques will look a little off.
Brows are mini frames for the face. When done right, they highlight your beautiful eye makeup, skin tone, and even your lips. Think of it this way. The type of bangs that look best on you or how you part your hair are hugely based on the shape of your face. Well, same goes for brows.
Creating the perfect eyebrows based
on face shape isn’t an exact science and you should always lean toward the look
you are most comfortable with. There are a few basics to keep in mind, though,
when shaping your brows.
The first tip is height. A higher
arch will elongate the face. While this may look good on a round or heart
shaped face, an oval face can look too narrow with an overly high arch. Arch
placement is another important aspect to keep in mind. Basically, the closer
the arch is to the temples, the wider it makes the face look.
How to Create Perfect Eyebrows for Your Face Shape
An oval face is fairly symmetrical from top to bottom. While this face shape can pull off pretty much any type of brow, a softly angled brow is the most flattering. Add fullness that is even throughout the brow and keep the arch more subtle.This face shape is more angular, so a rounded brow will help to soften and add length. Fill brows in but steer clear of a bold, dramatic look. The idea is soft and feminine with a rounded arch.The cheekbones are the widest part of the face on a round face shape. Rounded brows will only make this face shape appear rounder, but angular brows tend to overwhelm a round face and look out of place. Create brows with a slight curve that is highest at the arch to give the illusion of a longer face. Lengthening brows will also help to make the face look longer.
A heart-shaped face is similar to a round face but has a delicate, tapered chin. To balance the appearance of the forehead and chin, go for a soft, rounded brow. This face shape can totally pull of a full brow, so be sure to add some color.Wide cheekbones, a pointed chin, and narrow forehead are the features of a diamond-shaped face. To make the forehead appear wider and add balance overall, create full brows that are angled at the arch and longer at the ends.Oblong face shape is approximately twice as long as it is wide. Forehead, cheekbones, and jawline are basically the same width with a small, slightly tapered chin. To steer clear of making the face appear longer, avoid a highly arched brown. A straight, fuller brow with a subtle arch is the most flattering for an oblong face.
A narrow forehead and strong jawline are the hallmarks of a triangular face shape. The best way to soften a triangle face is with full brows that taper at the ends without angling down. This will draw attention to the forehead and add balance to the face.
Similar to an oblong face shape, rectangular faces are longer than they are wide but have a more angular jawline. A straighter brow makes the face look a bit shorter. Add a delicate curve to soften angles without arching too much to create the look of roundness.
